Prof. Dr. Annemieke van Straten
Prof. Dr. Annemieke van Straten is psychologist and epidemiologist. She is currently head of the section of Clinical Psychology at the VU University in Amsterdam and chair of academic collaboration with Prezens mental health services. Her work focuses on common mental disorders with an emphasis on insomnia. She is interested in the (cost)effectiveness of brief treatments, especially Internet Interventions. Furthermore, she is interested in ways to implement those interventions in routine practice. She has developed an Internet Intervention for insomnia (i-Sleep), supervised numerous controlled trials on the (cost)effectiveness of Internet Interventions (depression, anxiety, insomnia, stepped care), and written several meta-analysis (depression, insomnia, stepped care). She has published more than 100 manuscripts in (inter)national journals.
The ISRII is a great organisation and the conferences always lead to meeting new people, getting new ideas and be inspired in general. I would like to see the ISRII to expand more though. The field of Internet Interventions is growing rapidly for all kind of different (mental and somatic) conditions. It would be great if more of those people would join the ISRII to share ideas and to collaborate. It would also be great if the ISRII network could be used better as a platform to share knowledge (especially for young researchers) in between conferences e.g. by creating an online discussion platform, by offering (online) courses.
