8th Scientific Meeting – 2016
The 8th Scientific ISRII Meeting was held 7-9th April, 2016 in Seattle.
The theme of the 8th meeting was: Technologies for a digital world: Improving health across the lifespan. Delegates attending the meeting heard from world experts on approaches to assessment, prevention, and intervention using information and communication technologies across multiple populations. Speakers discussed the theoretical and therapeutic processes underlying these approaches. A lifespan approach was considered to facilitate understanding of commonalities as well as unique developmental considerations in the application of technologies to improve health.
Conference highlights!
The conference was a huge success with 418 abstract submissions and 304 delegates attending from across the globe!
- *NEW EVENT*! At the 8th Scientific meeting the Early Career Delegates were able to enjoy a stimulating breakfast chat with experts in the field at the Early Career Breakfast. This proved to be an informative conversation between trainees, graduates, and senior delegates. Delegates were able to quiz leaders in the field about research, grants, publishing, moving up the career ladder, and gained lots of excellent advice.
- The Throw Down returned again this year. Delegates were teamed up into groups providing the opportunity to meet new researchers, clinicians, and technology developers to come up with a new remote intervention for patients undergoing transplant surgery. Teams presented their ideas at the end of the conference, and the winning team received a much coveted Throw Down medal!
- The Gala Dinner was held at Seattle Aquarium. Delegates were able to watch tranquil fish swimming whilst they ate delicious food (which wasn’t fish!) and enjoying the company of other delegates! The organizing committee presented awards after dinner to deserving organizing committee members past and present.
Throughout the conference our organizing committee and delegates were busy tweeting. Check out our Storify board for a selection of tweets and photos throughout the conference.
